Mayer, 47, graduated
from UND School of Medicine, Grand Forks as a family practice physician. She works in clinic duty in New Town, emergency room work in Stanley, N.D. and on the Turtle Mountain reservation, Belcourt, N.D., on weekends.
Mayer is Hidatsa/Mandan/Arikara and lives in New Town with her mother and sister.
