MOORHEAD - Former Concordia College president Paul Dovre will serve as interim president as the college searches for a permanent replacement for President Pam Jolicoeur, who died June 9 after suffering a stroke at her on-campus home.
Ron Offutt, chairman of the Concordia Board of Regents, announced the new leadership today at a news conference.
"These have been very difficult days for Concordia College, but even as we grieve, we move forward with faith and with confidence," Offutt said.
Dovre, 75, who was Concordia's president for 24 years before retiring in July 1999, also served as interim president in 2003 between the presidencies of Thomas Thomsen and Jolicoeur.
Offutt said it was important to have an interim leader who knows Concordia and can maintain the momentum created by Jolicoeur.

"The wisdom and experience that he brings are unmatched in higher education," Offutt said.
A committee will be established in late July to lead a national search for a new leader, Offutt said.
A timeline has not been established for a permanent president to begin, but officials hope a president would be found within the next academic year, Offutt said.
