The Sons of Norway lodge in Devils Lake took home honors as lodge of the year for the fraternal organization's District 4, which includes 55 lodges in North Dakota, Montana and the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta.

The Devils Lake Heim Lodge was recognized recently during the district Sons of Norway convention in Edmonton, Alta.

Designation of lodge of the year is based on lodge activity, service to members and the larger community, and preservation of Scandinavian culture and traditions.

Heim Lodge has 130 members, which is about 10 percent greater than in 2009, lodge historian Sam Johnson reported in a news release.
