A 53-year-old Devils Lake man was killed in a one-vehicle accident Sunday evening along Interstate 29 near Buxton, N.D.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the driver, Monte Allen Armentrout, was driving a 1998 Ford minivan south at about 6 p.m. Sunday when the accident occurred.
He had just passed another vehicle at mile marker 118 and had merged back into the right lane of travel when his vehicle started to weave back and forth, according to the report. The vehicle then slowly drifted across the left lane and entered the median.
The Highway Patrol report said that the driver apparently appeared to be attempting to bring his vehicle under control without braking. However, it continued to fishtail back and forth in the median.
