Dennis Benson
Dennis Benson, 72, of Arvilla, ND, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Deaconess Health Center in Northwood, ND.
Dennis was born June 14, 1936 at Emerado, ND, the son of Ralph and Mae (Hickman) Benson. He was raised and grew to manhood in the Arvilla area. Dennis attended elementary school in Arvilla and graduated from Larimore High School. He served in the United States Army from 1960 - 1962 at Ft. Carson, Colorado as a military police officer. After his discharge, Dennis returned to Arvilla where he farmed until 1985. He then was a farm laborer for area farmers until 1990, when he began working for Simplot in Grand Forks, retiring in 2006.
Surviving members of his family include a sister: Fern (Gerald) Smith, Waupaca, WI; brothers: Dudley Benson and Curtis Benson both of Grand Forks; nieces and nephew: Brian Smith, Brenda (Steve) Rolf, and Kristi Schmidt; several cousins; and special friend Margie Volk, Grand Forks. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Mandel.
Funeral Services: Monday, October 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the Arvilla Presbyterian Church of Arvilla, ND.

Interment: Arvilla Cemetery.
Military Honors: Ted Valerius Post No. 97 of the Larimore American Legion.
Visitation: Sunday, October 26 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. with a 4 p.m. prayer service held in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore. Visitation will resume for 1 hour prior to the funeral in the church Monday.
