BISMARCK – A former state legislator will announce her candidacy today in Bismarck for the Democratic-NPL Party’s endorsement for secretary of state.

April Fairfield, who works in non-profit organization leadership, served in the North Dakota Senate from 2002 to 2006 and in the House of Representatives from 1996 to 2002, representing Eldridge, west of Jamestown.

The secretary of state office is currently held by Republican Al Jaeger.

The North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party will endorse its slate of statewide candidates at the party’s State Convention, which will be held this weekend, Thursday through Saturday, in Fargo.
