The Souris River Joint Board will unveil a map today for Minot's improved flood protection system, according to Gov. Jack Dalrymple's office.
The map will help area residents with damaged homes make decisions about what to do with their properties. Some residents have wondered how much money and effort they should put into repairs not knowing if their home will be bought out.
The State Water Commission, which Dalrymple chairs, is providing $2.5 million to cover the cost of the system's initial development.
The governor will take part in a news conference at 10:30 a.m. today at Minot City Hall to discuss the map.
