Northwood grants: Northwood, N.D., will receive a $10,000 Community Partnership Grant from Archer Daniels Midland. The check will be presented at 4 p.m. Monday in Northwood City Hall.
Northwood also received a $25,000 Community Transportation Enhancement Grant from the North Dakota Forest Service and the Department of Transportation.
Passport exemption: Visitors to the International Peace Garden near Dunseith, N.D., will not have to carry a passport.
Homeland Security officials Tuesday sided with Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., to exempt tourists from having to carry a passport as they explored the garden.
In June 2009, U.S. citizens will be required to carry a passport to return from Canada by land. Without an exemption, the law would have mandated that American citizens need a passport to come back into the country after visiting the garden even if they did not go into Canada.

Drivers licenses: All drivers license offices in North Dakota will be closed Thursday and Friday to allow Department of Transportation employees to attend annual training sessions.
Motor vehicle offices will remain open as scheduled and will process vehicle registrations, vehicle titles, vehicle license plates and tabs and associated work as usual.
Driver safety: The North Dakota Highway Patrol has given its stamp of approval to AARP's online driver safety course, making those who complete the course eligible for discounts from their auto insurance company.
The course is eight hours long and can be taken at the participant's own pace. The cost is $15.95 for AARP members and $19.95 for non-members.
