Daily update: Up 'til Dawn ... Early voting, etc.

Early voting: Grand Forks County will offer early voting for the general election from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and Nov. 3, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Alerus Center, 1200 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks.

Voters should use the main entrance of the Alerus Center (door No. 1), which is accessible to people with disabilities. All Grand Forks County residents, including UND students, may vote in the single early voting poll site and are encouraged to bring identification as verification of their residential address to the polls.

Accuracy test: In compliance with Minnesota statutes, a public accuracy test will be conducted at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the former Court Administration Office in the Polk County Government Center, 612 North Broadway, Crookston.

The purpose is to demonstrate the accuracy of the computer programs and the computers to be used in conjunction with the optical scan voting system implemented in Polk County for the 2008 election.

The test will be observed by two election judges, each from a different political party. Interested members of the general public, as well as representatives of political parties, candidates and the press also may observe.

Up 'til Dawn: Everyone is welcome to come help "Flush Away Cancer" at the Letter Signing Party on Tuesday in the Loading Dock of the Memorial Union on the UND campus, part of the Up 'til Dawn fundraiser, benefiting St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.

Stop by any time during the day with your address book and sign pre-written letters asking for donations from friends and family. There will be tons of free food and the chance to win an iPod Touch.

The program at UND has raised more than $55,000 the past two years.

MeritCare changes: The Land of the Dancing Sky Area Agency will hold sessions to inform Medicare beneficiaries about the choice they have in lieu of policy changes MeritCare is making with Unicare Medicare Advantage plans beginning Jan. 1.

The sessions will run from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday and 3 to 5 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Heritage Community Center in Thief River Falls, and from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 4 and 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 12 at Evangelical Lutheran Church on Highway 2 east in Bemidji.
