Minnesota wants to hear from you, Crookston, on how to plan a better future for the state, as part of the state's sesquicentennial - 150th anniversary.

The Minnesota Sesquicentennial Commission, which is holding a series of statewide forums, will have its next meeting in Crookston at 10 a.m. today in Crookston's City Hall chambers, 124 N. Broadway.

The Northwest Regional Development Commission is hosting the event, titled "Plan for Our Future: Many Voices-One Minnesota." The public is encouraged to attend.

"It's an opportunity to take stock of where we are as a state and set goals for ourselves to prepare for a demanding future," said Jane Leonard, executive director of the sesquicentennial commission.

The purpose of the forums simply is to provide a snapshot of Minnesotans' ideas for the future.

The goal is to have input from citizens across all 87 Minnesota counties. The results will be compiled into a comprehensive document, "a blueprint for current and future leaders of Minnesota."
