MOORHEAD -- A 54-year-old man was sentenced in Clay County District Court this morning to just over 12 years in prison for molesting two sisters more than 20 years ago, when the victims were about 7 years old.
Had the crimes been committed today, Rodney Russell Trudeau could have faced a sentence approximately twice that, according to Clay County Attorney Brian Melton, who said he was glad Judge Lisa Borgen imposed the maximum sentence allowed under sentencing guidelines from the early 1980s.
Trudeau's attorneys had asked that Trudeau receive a sentence of between six years and nine and a half years.
