A filming crew shooting promotional content for a local hospital was responsible for detours Thursday in downtown Grand Forks and East Grand Forks near Sorlie Bridge.
The detour began at about 5:30 a.m. and continued sporadically over the next hour or so, with East Grand Forks Police Department directing traffic on the east side of the bridge and Grand Forks police working the west side.
The detour was prompted by a crew that was filming a promotional segment for Altru Health Systems, Altru spokeswoman Sally Grosgebauer said.
"Altru is working with a film crew on some upcoming promotional pieces," she said, adding the agency "has taken all the appropriate precautions and retained the required permits to be filming in the designated areas. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have posed to the public."
The filming was scheduled to continue through Friday at various locations around the community, she said.

Grosgebauer said officials have not decided when or where the promotional segments might be used.
