A two-vehicle crash early this morning killed a teenager in Polk County.
According to the State Patrol, the 15-year-old male was the driver of a Pontiac sedan crossing Highway 59 at the intersection of Polk County Road 41 at about 12:30 a.m. The boy failed to yield to a northbound Volvo driven by Peter Schwartz of Shoreview, Minn., and hit it broadside.
The patrol said the boy was dead at the scene and a 16-year-old male passenger was taken to a hospital for observation. Their names have not been released pending notification of relatives. Schwartz also was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash is under investigation, the patrol said.
