MAIDEN ROCK, Wis. - A young Holstein heifer was reportedly cut up and left for dead Wednesday in Maiden Rock.
James Benitz, Maiden Rock, alerted Pierce County Sheriff's deputies that afternoon he saw the Holstein, approximately two years old, cut up and dumped near the edge of 220th St. south of 265th Ave. The cow was dumped in the east ditch eight to 10 feet off the roadway in the blue tarp, the deputies' report said.
The cow had been skinned, and all of the usable meat had been removed, along with the internal organs and legs. The cow hide had been dumped next to the cow, and was wrapped around the internal contents and the legs.
Deputies alerted Town officials who arrived and removed the cow along with the hide and other contents.
The report also states Benitz found two Wisconsin ear tags and he was in contact with the state to find out the veterinarian who vaccinated the cow.
