The Grand Forks County Correctional Center and Juvenile Detention Center will have a new meal provider in January.
Trinity Services Group previously provided food services to the centers but decided to discontinue services.
"They were losing money," Correctional Center Administrator Bret Burkholder said.
A'viands will be the new food provider, effective Jan. 5, but an official contract has not been signed, Burkholder said. He does not "foresee any problem with their contract."
"They have a big footprint in Minnesota, which is what Trinity was missing," Burkholder said.

It will cost $30,000 to $35,000 more per year with A'viands, but "it is going to cost us more no matter what direction we go," Burkholder said.
Meal prices are based on the number of people served, he said. A larger inmate population means individual meals will cost less.
The Correctional Center's yearly average population is 196, which would cost about $1.59 per meal.
As of Tuesday morning, the Correctional Center's population was at 179, which costs about $1.75 per meal.
One service A'viands provides that Trinity didn't is milk for juveniles three times a day. Trinity provided milk once a day for juveniles, Burkholder said.
