MAPLETON, N.D. - The Highway Patrol says a sport utility vehicle struck an asphalt paver and a construction worker walking alongside it, killing the worker on a Cass County road.
The patrol says 26-year-old Ben Lenzen Jr., of Fargo, was pronounced dead at the scene, shortly after 7 p.m.
Authorities say Lenzen was struck by an SUV driven by 45-year-old Russell Roberts of West Fargo, who was hospitalized. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The patrol said the SUV had driven around traffic that was stopped in a construction zone on the county road west of West Fargo.
Authorities said the crash is under investigation and charges are pending.
