MINOT, N.D. โ€“ A construction worker from Ohio fell from the roof of a four-story building in Minot and died Monday, police said.

Richard Rayburn, 48, of Hillsboro, Ohio, was transported to a Minot hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the Minot Police Department reported in a news release.

Police said Rayburn was working on the roof of the building at 1220 27th Ave. N.W. when strong winds blew up a piece of plywood. He tried to gain control of the plywood but stepped on a loose piece of plywood and slid off the roof.

Rayburn had been tethered to the roof, but he removed his tether to reposition himself just before he fell, police said.
