Veterans Administration officials have agreed to open a new clinic in Devils Lake, said Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., Thursday.
He said the VA had earlier put the clinic on "indefinite hold," but his office "held their feet to the fire."
Conrad convinced the VA in 2004 to open five new veterans outpatient clinics in North Dakota, joining three others already open. The VA opened only four more, leaving out Devils Lake.
The Devils Lake clinic will have a part-time doctor, a full-time nurse and "telehealth" services that would allow veterans to have direct access with specialists at the Fargo VA medical center.
