A Reynolds, N.D., woman was killed this morning when her truck was struck by a train on a gravel road about a mile north of Reynolds, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Her name has not been released.

The patrol said the driver had come from the elevator in Reynolds. At about 10:15 a.m., she was headed west on a gravel road and applied the brakes of the 1974 GMC Tri-axle Farm Truck as it neared a crossing where a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train was northbound.

The truck slid on the gravel and the train struck it on the driver's side, sending it into the east ditch. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The train stopped after about a half mile. The engineer, Don Zimmerman, 52, of East Grand Forks, said he did not see the truck until the train cleared a building on the east side of the tracks.
