College enrollment up valley wide

Mayville (N.D.) State University reported a double-digit increase in enrollment this fall, part of a trend among universities and colleges in the northern valley region.

UND, which earlier reported it second highest fall enrollment, along with Northland Community and Technical College and others also reported enrollment growth.

The University of Minnesota-Crookston is said by some to also have seen strong enrollment growth, but it won't report enrollment until today.

Here's a list of institutions and their enrollments (increases from fall 2008 are in parentheses.)

North Dakota

- Dakota College-Bottineau: 748 (14.2 percent).

- Lake Region State College (Devils Lake): 1,702 (2.7 percent).

- Mayville State University: 887 (12.4 percent).

- North Dakota State University: 14,189 (7.3 percent).

- UND: 13,172 (3.3 percent).

Minnesota

- Bemidji State University: 5,171 (6.1 percent).

- Northland Community and Technical College (East Grand Forks, Thief River Falls): 4,154 (4.3 percent).

- Northwest Technical College-Bemidji: 1,605 (16.9 percent).

- Minnesota State University-Moorhead: 7,477 (-0.1 percent).
