The Northlands Rescue Mission in Grand Forks received national cable television news time on Thursday night.
On CNN's "Campbell Brown: No Bias, No Bull" show, host Brown specifically mentioned Northlands as part of her editorial on why presidential candidates Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., should stop negative campaign ads and put money spent for those to a better use.
Brown also highlighted a homeless shelter in Provo, Utah, in her editorial.
Northlands has seen a recent spike in the number of homeless using the shelter, Director Dave Sena told the Herald on Tuesday, noting that 104 people stayed at the shelter on Mon-day. Capacity for the shelter is 100. Sena also said the Mission has been serving up to 120 people at lunch or dinner, a record. Many of the people don't stay at the shelters but come for the free food.
The Mission will hold its annual banquet at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Alerus Center with singer/guitarist Buddy Greene.
