HUTCHINSON -- A 30-year-old Eagle Lake man was arrested after a Wednesday morning high-speed pursuit in McLeod and Meeker counties that included two crashes with other vehicles. No one was seriously hurt.
According to the State Patrol, a state trooper's pursuit of a 2001 Buick driven by Phillip J. Boyer began on State Highway 15 in McLeod County after a citizen made a driving complaint on the vehicle. The car was driving erratically and passing dangerously at high speeds. The trooper met the car at 85 mph in a 40-mph speed zone and attempted to stop the vehicle, but was unsuccessful.
The pursuit continued through Hutchinson at dangerous speeds. The Buick rear-ended a 1997 Mazda driven by David Pfeiler, 64, of Hutchinson. Pfeiler suffered minor injuries and was taken to Hutchinson hospital.
The pursuit continued north on Highway 15 until the Buick sideswiped a semi tractor and trailer at 195th Street, about four miles south of Dassel.
According to Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin, the vehicle attempted to pass the 1991 Freightliner semi, driven by Donald McGregor, 51, of Minnesota Lakes, on the shoulder. Boyer lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the side of the semi trailer and then into the ditch.
