About a dozen Catholic parishes are holding a prayer service "for healing and reconciliation," in the American Crystal Sugar Co. lockout of union employees at 2 p.m. Sunday in Holy Family parish, 1018 18th Ave. S., Grand Forks, said the Rev. Phil Ackerman, pastor of Holy Family.

The Rev. James Goodwin, pastor of St. Stephen's in Larimore, N.D., will preach, and other priests will read scripture.

"We as a group are not taking any stand or sides in this issue," Ackerman said. "We are not trying to propose a solution."

"But especially during the season of Advent, as we approach Christmas, it's a wonderful time to focus on healing and reconciliation."

Everyone is welcome.
