The Catholic Diocese of Fargo will ordain one man as a priest this summer: Kurt Gunwall, who grew up in Wadena, Minn., and ran the diocese's youth ministry a decade ago.
Deacon Gunwall, 42, will be ordained by Bishop Samuel Aquila at 10 a.m. today in the Cathedral of St. Mary in downtown Fargo.
A 1991 graduate of Minnesota State University-Moorhead, majoring in math, Gunwall attended Cardinal Muench Seminary in Fargo and St. John Vianney Seminary in Denver. He has been assigned to be parochial vicar at the diocese's newest parish: Sts. Anne and Joachim in south Fargo.
The Crookston diocese plans to ordain a man to the priesthood in December.
