Carl "Bernie" Eggebraaten

Carl Bernhard (Bernie) Eggebraaten was born in Grand Forks, ND on September 18, 1927.

He worked on the family farm until he joined the Navy in 1945. After his honorable discharge he attended school in Crookston, MN. He married Donna Jean Anderson on December 31, 1950 in East Grand Forks, MN. They were blessed with three children.

Bernie utilized his farming skills in the retail farm and ranch industry in Fargo and Dickinson, ND, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Sidney, MT. His successful career was highlighted by ownership in Farm and Home store in Sidney. He was fair and compassionate with all of his employees and customers. Bernie was mechanically inclined and enjoyed working in his shops. Numerous projects ranged from repairing coffee makers to rebuilding antique cars.

In 1986 Bernie and Donna started their retirement. They enjoyed winters in their motor home in the Desert Southwest and summers at their lake property at Trout Creek, MT. Bernie liked to experiment growing items such as miniature corn, peanuts, pinion and weeping willow trees. Unfortunately, Western Montana was not conducive to growing exotic plants but it did add flavor to Bernie's stories that he loved to tell over and over. His never ending stories will be with us forever.
