A Minnesota woman was injured after her car was struck by a semi near East Grand Forks, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Janice L. Socha, 49, Felton, Minn., was eastbound on U.S. Highway 2 when her 2004 Pontiac Bonneville was struck on the driver's door by a westbound 2001 International Semi about 11 a.m. Friday.

The driver of the semi, Dean A. Lindberg, 69, Fosston, Minn., was turning onto Business Highway 2 and didn't see Socha's vehicle at the time of the crash, the patrol said. Lindberg was cited for failure to yield.

Socha suffered injuries and broken bones from the crash, the patrol said, and had to be removed from her totaled Pontiac by the East Grand Forks Fire Department. She was taken by ambulance to Altru Hospital.

A nursing supervisor said Socha was treated and released by Friday afternoon.
