A Canadian passenger plane was forced to make an emergency landing this afternoon in Grand Forks after reportedly experiencing problems.
WestJet Airlines flight 1578 was traveling from Calgary, Alta., to Chicago O'Hare International Airport when it made a diversion into Grand Forks, according to FlightView.com, which tracks air travel.
The plane landed at about 5 p.m. and was greeted by the Airport Fire Department and other first responders, but did not appear to have any major problems.
The plane was brought from the runway to the terminal area, where airport employees brought passengers water and snacks. Passengers on the plane did not deplane.
WestJet officials did not immediately respond to requests from comment. An automated phone service said the flight is now expected to reach Chicago at 12:24 a.m. It had been scheduled to land at 7:25 p.m. Friday.
