The weather should be nice today, relatively speaking, and a calm between two storms.
High winds and low visibility Friday night made for weather bad enough to flirt with a blizzard, but National Weather Service meteorologist Pete Speicher said it would not likely develop into a true blizzard.
As of about 7 p.m. Friday, Speicher, at the weather service office in Grand Forks, said the near-blizzard conditions should taper off this morning. The blizzard warning issued Friday afternoon was scheduled to stay in effect until midnight, but was lifted before 10 p.m.
Today’s highs should be between 8 and 10 degrees, Speicher said. Other areas of the region near Devils Lake could get as warm as the upper teens, he said.
Temperatures should stay around zero through tonight, Speicher said.

“On Sunday afternoon it’s going to go downhill real quick,” Speicher said.
The storm system Sunday could bring the region’s fifth blizzard of the season, he said.
It’ll also bring another “arctic outbreak,” with deeply cold temperatures in the negative 20s, Speicher said. There could be about 2 to 3 inches of snow as well.
Wind chills could get as low as minus 39 Sunday, with gusts possibly as strong as 50 mph.
Temperatures are expected to stay cold through the beginning of the week, with a high of minus 14 Monday, a low of minus 23 Monday night and a high of minus 6 on Tuesday,
