DETROIT LAKES, Minn. - A Callaway man made his first court appearance Tuesday in Becker County District Court on two felony counts of first degree driving while intoxicated, and a related gross misdemeanor charge of driving after license cancellation.

Randall Lee Lund, 46, of 108 Wisconsin St., Callaway, was charged in connection with a July 3 incident in which the vehicle he was driving was found abandoned in the ditch, sitting up against a tree on County Highway 37, two and a half miles north of State Highway 34 in Becker County.

Bystanders at the scene said the driver, Lund, had been taken to Charlie's Bar, where the investigating officer found him sitting at the bar about 20 minutes later. Lund appeared intoxicated, and field sobriety tests administered at the scene showed "multiple signs of impairment," according to the complaint.

Preliminary breath tests administered at the scene and a subsequent test at the jail showed an alcohol concentration in Lund's system between .16 and .17.

Lund's court records showed that he had been convicted of DWI charges a total of six times between 1988 and 2008, including three times in the past 10 years.
