Bus-vehicle crash near Northwood injures more than a dozen

More than a dozen people were injured in a Friday afternoon collision between a school bus and car near Northwood, N.D., the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported.

More than a dozen people were injured in a Friday afternoon collision between a school bus and car near Northwood, N.D., the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported.

At 3:45 p.m., a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville and 2008 International school bus collided in an uncontrolled intersection at 33rd Street Northeast and Fourth Avenue Northeast about 1 mile east of Northwood.

The patrol said the bus, which was bringing 11 children ages 5 to 16 home from school, flipped on its passenger side. The children and driver were safely removed from the bus and taken to Northwood Deaconess Health Center for treatment of minor injuries, the patrol said.

The car's driver, a 16-year-old Northwood girl, also was taken to Deaconess and treated for injuries. A male passenger, an 18-year-old Northwood resident, was airlifted to Sanford Health in Fargo.

Authorities have not released the names or medical conditions of the crash victims. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
