Tom Buning's leave of absence request as UND athletic director is for four weeks, the Herald learned Friday.
Buning took the leave earlier this week after a weekend in which there was speculation that there could be major changes within the athletic department at the school.
UND has not said why Buning is on a leave of absence.
On Tuesday, Steve Brekke and Betty Ralston were named co-acting athletic directors at UND.
