Former Minnesota Vikings coach Bud Grant will headline a news conference set for 1 p.m. Wednesday in the East Grand Forks Cabela's store to promote the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment.
Informally known as the "dedicated funding" amendment, the measure would increase the state's sales tax by three-eighths of 1 percent, generating about $300 million annually for fish and wildlife habitat, water, parks and the arts during the next 25 years.
Minnesota voters will decide the fate of the amendment Nov. 4.
According to Charlie Poster, communications director for Vote Yes Minnesota, Grant will hold about a 30-minute news conference talking about the amendment during the East Grand Forks stop. Joining him will be outdoors TV personality Ron Schara, retired Minnesota state Sen. Bob Lessard, Joe Duggan of Pheasants Forever, Ryan Heiniger of Ducks Unlimited, Mark Johnson of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association and Lance Ness of the Fish and Wildlife Legislative Alliance.
The East Grand Forks stop is part of a statewide fly-around Grant and other measure supporters are making to promote the amendment. They're also scheduled to be stop at Moorhead's W.H. Danes Memorial Park at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
