Bridges to be replaced, roads repaired in northwest Minnesota

Construction season is about to begin in the Northland, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced this year's road construction projects.

Seventeen of those projects are in the state's northwest corner. Five bridges will be replaced, eight repaired and about 100 miles of roads resurfaced.

Statewide, there are 316 projects worth $1.1 billion.

Here are more details about the local projects:

U.S. Highway 2

Rehabilitate six bridges at the Bemidji bypass.

• Cost: $2.3 million.

• Date: May to August.

• Impact: Lane closures, median crossovers, short-term closures on Beltrami County Road 11.

U.S. Highway 75

Replace bridge 1 mile north of Hallock.

• Cost: $2.16 million.

• Date: July to November.

• Impact: Detour.

Replace bridge 7.2 miles north of Kittson County line.

• Cost: $560,000

• Date: June.

• Impact: Detour.

Resurface 16.6 miles of road and other work from Warren to Stephen.

• Cost: $5.4 million.

• Date: June to August.

• Impact: Detour, lane closures with flaggers.

Minn. Highway 1

Replace bridge over the Mud River in Redby.

• Cost: $3.3 million.

• Date: May to October.

• Impact: Single lane closures, two-week detour.

Replace bridge over the Blackduck River east of Redby.

• Cost: $1.78 million.

• Date: June to October.

• Impact: Detour.

Resurface 15.5 miles of road and other work east and north of Oslo.

• Cost: $900,000.

• Date: August to September.

• Impact: Lane closures.

Minn. Highway 9

Replace bridge and other work in Ada.

• Cost: $4.6 million.

• Date: June to September.

• Impact: Detour.

Minn. Highway 11

Resurface 21 miles of road and other work from Greenbush to 2.3 miles west of Roseau.

• Cost: $6.5 million.

• Date: May to August.

• Impact: Detour

Resurface road from Roosevelt to Williams.

• Cost: $670,000.

• Date: June.

• Impact: Lane closures.

Resurface 8.7 miles of road and other work east of Baudette to Clementson.

• Cost: $7.5 million.

• Date: April to September.

• Impact: Lane closures, detour.

Minn. Highway 32

Revise intersection and other work at Greenwood Avenue in Thief River Falls.

• Cost: $1.6 million.

• Date: August to October.

• Impact: Single-lane closures with flaggers.

Minn. Highway 113

Resurface 12 miles of road and other work from U.S. Highway 59 to Mahnomen County Road 4.

• Cost: $3.6 million.

• Date: May to July.

• Impact: Detour.

Minn. Highway 220

Resurface 23.6 miles of road and other work from Climax to East Grand Forks.

• Cost: $4.9 million.

Resurface road from Zerkel to Long Lake Park.

• Cost: $600,000.

• Date: June.

• Impact: Lane closures with flaggers.

Minn. Highway 310

Repair bridge over Roseau River 5 miles north of Roseau.

• Cost: $1.3 million.

• Date: June to August.

• Impact: Detour.
