A 10-year-old boy was injured Friday when a pickup truck hit him as he was riding his bike on the west side of Grand Forks.

The truck's driver was cited.

According to Detective Duane Simon of the Grand Forks Police Department, the boy was riding his bike west on West Plum Drive just before 6 p.m. Friday in the Congressional housing development when he was hit in an intersection of North 53rd Street by a northbound 2002 Ford truck driven by Jason Johnson, 39, Grand Forks.

Johnson was cited for driving without the care required.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Altru Hospital where he was treated and his condition later Friday night was listed as stable, Simon said.
