KIMBALL, S.D. -- A woman who was reported missing in Hanson County on Monday morning was found dead in Brule County later the same morning.
Brule County Sheriff Darrell Miller confirmed Monday evening that the body was found at Gavilon Liberty Grain, a grain-loading facility near Kimball, but declined further comment. The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the death.
Sara Rabern, spokeswoman for the attorney general's office, said an autopsy for the woman is scheduled today.
Mary Palu, a spokeswoman for Gavilon Liberty Grain, said Monday afternoon there was "a situation that occurred" at the Gavilon facility earlier in the day. She said the situation prompted investigation by law enforcement. Palu added that the situation did not involve any Gavilon employees, but declined further comment.
