Crews this morning began closing the BNSF railroad bridge over the Red River in downtown Grand Forks and East Grand Forks.

The bridge spans the Red between the Point and Sorlie bridges, which closed Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Crews begin closing the railroad bridge and sealing off the bridge at both ends when the river reaches 47 and is expected to rise at least 50 feet.

The Red at East Grand Forks had reached 48.11 feet as of 10:30 a.m.

Not far away, the Louis Murray Bridge spanning the Red Lake River in East Grand Forks was closed at 10 this morning.
