Grand Forks title company acquires Crookston office

Grand Forks Abstract and Title Co. has acquired Strander Abstract & Title LLC of Crookston.

The transaction closed Jan. 2.

Aaron Rosten has been named the new branch manager of Strander Abstract & Title.

The Crookston office has five employees.

Rivard's Turf & Forage expands lineup

Argyle, Minn.-based Rivard's Turf & Forage Inc. has been added as an alfalfa seed distributor for northwestern Minnesota, eastern North Dakota and South Dakota for W-L Research.

Grand Forks SBA office has new location

The Small Business Administration office in Grand Forks has moved to the Ronald N. Davies Federal building from the North Dakota Job Service building.

The office's new address is 102 N. 4th St., Suite 125, in Grand Forks and can be contacted by phone at (701) 746-5160.

Local inventor's invention to be sold on QVC

Devils Lake native Jason Bednarz's invention, the "Macen's Grip," a universal extension handle for shovels and other products, will be featured and sold on QVC in mid-January.

The attachment is being sold in about 40 stores in North Dakota, including Home of Economy, Acme Electric and Mac's Hardware.

Construction underway at Fargo Jet Center

A major remodeling project is underway at Fargo Jet Center. The passenger terminal, pilots area and flight planning facility will be temporarily relocated to an adjacent terminal 300 feet west during construction.

The remodeling project began in the fall and includes upgrades and the reconfiguration of the passenger and pilot facilities and is expected to be completed by this spring.

Fargo Jet Center's main facility was built in 1995 and additional hangars and office space were added in 1998. Total occupied space exceeds 210,000 square feet.

Construction also is ongoing on GFK Flight Support's future corporate jet center at the Grand Forks International Airport.

Government Web site aids small business owners

http://Business.gov , the official business link to the U.S. government, has launched expanded content and new search features for small business owners.

Information available on the Web site includes forms, licenses, permits and regulatory info from federal, state and local governments and access to more than 9,000 state, territory, county and city government Web sites providing info on starting and managing a business and complying with applicable regulations.

2008 state action plan available for public

review, comment

North Dakota's 2008 Annual Action Plan now is available for public review and comment.

The 2008 annual action plan serves as the state's grant application to the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development for the Community Development Block Grant, HOME and Emergency Shelter Grants programs. The action plan describes how the funds from each program will be distributed during the 2008 program year, which begins April 1, 2008.

The plan is available on the North Dakota Department of Commerce's Division of Community Services Web site at www.nd.gov/dcs/community/plan , under Announcements and Notices. Written comments can be mailed to the North Dakota Department of Commerce at P.O. Box 2057, Bismarck, ND 58502 and must be received by Feb. 8.

Bremer employees contribute almost 100,000 hours in 2007

Employees of Bremer Financial and Bremer Bank contributed 92,963 volunteer hours to their communities in North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin in 2007, the largest volunteer contribution ever tallied by the company.

Bremer Financial Corp. is a privately-held regional financial services company jointly owned by employees and the Otto Bremer Foundation. The St. Paul-based company has more than 100 locations and employs about 1,880.
