BISMARCK -- A jury has returned a verdict of not guilty in the trial of Terry Link, who was accused of attempting to murder his wife. However, he was found guilty of two lesser charges, interference with an emergency call and preventing arrest.

The Thursday verdict follows more than three days of testimony this week at South Central District Court.

Link, 54, faces prison time on the lesser charges.

Thursday morning also saw the last bit of testimony in the case, as Burleigh County Assistant State's Attorney Pamela Nesvig recalled Bismarck Police Detective Matthew Fullerton as a rebuttal witness. Fullerton told Nesvig that he recorded his interview with Link on the night of the incident, and Nesvig played a 30-second audio clip from that interview.

Though Link was difficult to hear - his defense attorney Amanda Harris called him "inaudible" - Nesvig and Fullerton said Link made statements admitting that he knew his wife, Tamara Link, was going to call the police when he took her phone away on the night of Oct. 26, 2014.

On the stand Wednesday, Terry Link testified that he did not know who his wife intended to call, only that he didn't want her interrupting an argument they were having.
