BEMIDJI, Minn. -- A Bemidji man faces charges after allegedly trying to kill himself and a passenger by rolling his car last weekend on U.S. Highway 2.
Kenneth Oscar Osmundson, 24, was charged Wednesday in Beltrami County Court with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and terroristic threats-reckless disregard.
The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the rollover at 6:15 p.m. Saturday. Osmundson and his female passenger, who were found lying on the ground outside the vehicle, were transported to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
The passenger told troopers Osmundson had been driving west and lost control, according to a criminal complaint. She later told law enforcement she and Osmundson had been arguing and Osmundson started swerving the car back and forth while saying, “I want to kill myself and also I want to kill you,” court documents said.

Osmundson denied making the remark.
The assault charge carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison and a $14,000 fine. The terroristic threats charge carries up to five years and a $10,000 fine.
Osmundson was released Wednesday from the Beltrami County Jail on $1,000 cash bail.
He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 4.
