BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The person killed in a two-vehicle accident north of Bemidji on Monday afternoon has been identified.

The Minnesota State Patrol said Kelly Olson, 32, of Bemidji, was killed in the crash. Olson was driving a 1997 Chrysler Town and Country driven and entering U.S. Highway 71 when it was struck by a 1996 Chevrolet pickup driven by Jason Stubbe, 27, of Bemidji, who was traveling south on Highway 71.

Stubbe was transported to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center with serious injuries, the patrol said. He was listed in stable condition Monday afternoon, according to Sanford spokesperson Lindsey Wangberg.

According to the patrol, Olson was wearing a seat belt but the air bag in the driver's side did not deploy, although the passenger side air bag did. Stubbe was wearing his seat belt and the air bag in his vehicle did deploy.

The accident occurred just after 1 p.m., and road conditions were listed as icy, the patrol said.
