FARGO - One of the two former Best Buy security officers accused of allowing unpaid merchandise to be taken from the Fargo electronics store made his first appearance in court today.

Bail for Paul J. Larson, 22, was set at $5,000 bond or $500 cash in an arraignment in Cass County District Court.

Larson is one of the 12 defendants who have been charged in connection with a theft ring police say stole $150,000 in goods from the store over six months last fall and winter. He's the last suspect to make an initial court appearance.

Larson is charged with two Class C felonies, theft of property and accomplice to theft of property.

Five more of the Best Buy defendants are due back in court on Thursday for preliminary hearings. Larson's next court date was set for June 10.
