Authorities have released the names of the victims of Thursday's fatal head-on collision about four miles east of Crookston.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office reported today that Thomas Steven Briggs, 19, of rural Mentor, Minn., and Lawrence Louis Trudeau, 77, of rural Red Lake Falls, Minn., were pronounced dead at the scene of the 4:10 p.m. crash on Polk County Road 11.

Jessica Ann Briggs, 23, of Crookston, and Kari Michelle Shaugobay, 19, of rural Mentor, were taken by ambulance to Riverview Hospital in Crookston. They were later transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Briggs and Shuagobay were in critical condition this afternoon, according to the sheriff's office.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office is conducting autopsies, and the Minnesota State Patrol is mapping the scene of the crash.

No further information was released today. The crash remains under investigation.
