WEST FARGO - Authorities have identified a 61-year-old Casselton man killed in a rear-end collision on Interstate 94 west of West Fargo Thursday morning.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol said Royce Rodacker was pronounced dead at the crash scene near mile marker 341 just before 6 a.m.
Troopers arrived to find one car in the ditch and a small pickup truck in the median that had rolled.
Rodacker, the driver of the pickup that rolled, was thrown from the vehicle, according to state troopers.
The driver of the car, 20-year-old Nicholas Milbrandt from Kindred, was taken by a private vehicle to Essentia Health in Fargo where he was treated for minor injuries.

Milbrandt told troopers he and Rodacker were eastbound on the interstate. Milbrandt was trying to pass the pickup when a rear-end collision occurred.
Rear-end collisions are unusual on an open interstate but not unheard of, according to Sgt. Dave Wolf of the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash is still under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
