Emergency crews responded to two fires in Ada, Minn., Saturday morning. It appears at least one of the fires was set intentionally.

A house fire was reported to authorities at about 5:30 a.m., said Ada Police Chief Wade Krohmer. The fire appears to have started in the garage, and the house is a total loss, he said. No one was at home at the time of the fire, he said.

About an hour later, a caller reported a vehicle stuck in a snow bank near the town's senior citizen center and a man entering the center. Krohmer said he apprehended a man leaving the center and then noticed the building was on fire.

The man is being held for burglary. Charges related to the fire will likely be filed later, Krohmer said.

Krohmer said he did not have the man's name.

The fire appears to have started in the basement and extensively damaged the center, including its floor joists.

The house and the senior citizen center are both located on Fourth Avenue East, about two blocks from each other.

It's possible the two fires are related, Krohmer said. The state fire marshal will be investigating this evening.
