Storms prompt tornado alerts
MINNEAPOLIS -- The National Weather Service issued several tornado warnings as rough weather moved from west to east Sunday afternoon and evening across Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Three barns were blown down, and a mobile home was knocked off its foundation by high winds in Houston County of far southeast Minnesota. Kurt Kuhlers, the county's emergency management director, said there's no confirmation of a tornado in the county, but that the storm packed strong winds when it blew through about 4:30 p.m.
There were no deaths or injuries, but Houston county's 911 phone system was knocked off line for about an hour.
Several warnings were issued as the evening went on as trained spotters and law enforcement reported tornadoes, funnel clouds and tree and power line damage in western and northern Wisconsin.
