ALEXANDRIA, Minn. -- An armed robbery and assault was reported here Sunday night at a Subway restaurant..
At around 8:30 p.m., an unknown white male entered the back door of Subway brandishing what appeared to be a handgun, according to the Alexandria Police Department.
The suspect, at gunpoint, ordered the employee who was working to open the till and remove the cash. He then brought the employee to the back store room where he bound the employee’s ankles and hands.
The victim suffered injuries as a result of the robbery and assault, and was treated at the Douglas County emergency room. The employee was later released.
No one else was in the restaurant and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

The Alexandria Police Department is following up on numerous leads and the case is under investigation, according to Chief Rick Wyffels.
