RAY, N.D. -- A 55-year-old Arizona man was killed Thursday afternoon when a train hit his tractor-trailer on railroad tracks a mile northeast of Ray.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol identified the victim as Marion Ray Daniel of Show Low, Ariz.

The semi-truck was heading east on 65th Street Northwest, crossing the tracks, when a northeast-traveling train struck the passenger side of the truck at about 3:20 p.m. The train dragged the truck along the tracks for about 300 yards, a Highway Patrol report said.

The trailer of the truck disconnected, rotated 180 degrees and hit a small building. The truck itself was engulfed in flames after it came to a rest.
