Manitoba professors to speak at UND

Daniel and Cheryl Albas, sociology professors at the University of Manitoba, will present "Aces and Bombers: Student Life and Everyday Life," 4 p.m., Thursday in the East Asian Room of the Chester Fritz Library on the UND campus.

They will describe a classification of the strategies students use to manage self-impressions after grades have been awarded and examination papers returned, Rebecca Weaver-Hightower, associate professor of English at UND, said in a news release.

These encounters between students are first, when students who have scored a top grade in this exam (Aces) encounter other students who received a low or even failing grade (Bombers); second, when Aces encounter other Aces, and, third, when Bombers encounter other Bombers, she wrote. The event is part of the UND College of Arts and Sciences Interdisciplinary Speaker Series.
