NDHP joins I-94 crackdown

The North Dakota Highway Patrol announced Thursday it's joining six other states in a weekend crackdown on impaired driving on Interstate 94.

The enforcement project begins Friday evening and ends early Saturday morning. The traffic safety effort involves law enforcement from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and Wisconsin. Overall, 96 agencies will participate in the program.

During the past three years, 2,805 traffic crashes have occurred on I-94 in North Dakota. Fourteen people died and 386 were injured.

North Dakota crash statistics show that 172 people have died during alcohol-related traffic crashes that occurred from 2007 to 2009.

Rescheduled KidFest set for July 9

Weather postponed KidFest on June 18. KidFest is reset for 5 to 8 p.m. July 9 on the grounds of Valley Christian Center at the corner of 40th Avenue South and Cherry Street in Grand Forks. There will be free hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and bottled water.
