The sophomore quarterback had his best game of the season in leading East Grand Forks Sacred Heart to its highest point total of the year.
Anderson was 16-for-26 passing for 174 yards and three touchdowns in a 46-27 loss to Northern Freeze on Friday at Senior High Field.

Girls cross country:
Hannah Dennis,
GF Red River
Dennis earned all-conference honors, placing seventh overall at the East Region meet Saturday in Devils Lake. The senior finished in a time of 15 minutes, 22 seconds to lead Grand Forks Red River to a third-place team finish.
Dennis also was named the region's senior athlete of the year.

The senior running back carried the offense Tuesday as Devils Lake edged Grafton 21-20 to lock up the East Region's No. 2 seed for the Class AA state playoffs.
Ballard rushed for 167 yards on 34 carries, including touchdown runs covering 3, 3 and 4 yards. The workhorse back is now at 1,000 yards rushing for the 8-1 Firebirds with 19 touchdowns.
Volleyball:

North Star
Wirth led North Star to a 3-0 sweep of Park River/Fordville-Lankin in a matchup of area volleyball powers Tuesday. She also hit a personal milestone in the process.
The senior had 25 kills, four aces and six blocks in the win. The kills gave her 1,008 for her career, making her the first North Star player to reach the 1,000 mark in kills. Wirth leads the 27-1 North Star team with 359 kills, 74 blocks and 41 service aces.
